When you need repairs or routine maintenance on your heavy-duty truck, you don’t just want a truck repair shop near you, you want the best truck repair shop near you. Whether you’re driving in from Cold Lake, Bonnyville or searching for truck repair shops in Lloydminster, Overdrive Heavy Duty is the shop to handle all of your truck repair needs.
About
We started with a single employee in 2005 operating out of a 4 bay shop. Since that time, we’ve expanded to nearly 20 employees and upgraded to a state of the art 14 bay facility. Our two 10 ton cranes ensure that your heavy-duty truck is never too heavy for us to perform whatever procedures need to be done to keep it running like the finely tuned machine that it is.
Whether you drive an International, a Mack, or any other make of heavy-duty trucks, the highly skilled staff at our truck repair shop are prepared to provide you with whatever service you may need.
Repairs
When you rely on your semi-truck or other heavy-duty commercial truck to pay the bills, a breakdown can leave your income just as immobile as your truck. You need a truck repair shop that you can trust to do the job quickly and effectively, so both your truck and your bank account are moving forward again.
Engines
If your engine needs a rebuild, overhaul, or replacement, Overdrive Heavy Duty is prepared to do the job. If you don’t know what your engine needs, but know that it’s not running right, we’ll be there to quickly diagnose and resolve your engine woes so that you are back on the road and operating at peak efficiency. We work with the following brands of engine:
- Cummins
- Cat
- Detroit
- Mack
- Paccar
- International
If your heavy-duty truck isn’t quite that heavy, we also have a full range of diagnostic and repair capabilities for Ford, GMC, and Dodge vehicles.
Transmissions
Problems with your transmission can range from minor annoyances that make driving a little less pleasant to full-on catastrophes that turn your semi-truck into a stationary truck. It doesn’t matter whether your transmission is a manual, an automatic, automated or ultra shift, the expert techs at our shop are qualified to deal with it. Here are some of the brands of transmissions and clutches that we work with:
- Allison
- Spicer
- Eaton
- Lipe
- Meritor
Differentials
The final link in your drivetrain is the differential. If your truck is hopping around every time you take off because the differential is vibrating, or if it’s just making some kind of unsavoury noise, it’s a problem that should be addressed sooner rather than later. If it’s a domestic differential of any make, then we can repair or replace it. If need be, we’ll even replace your entire axle.
Maintenance
Repairs aren’t the only reason to bring your heavy-duty truck to the shop. In fact, it is vitally important that you have routine maintenance performed on your truck in order to avoid costly repairs down the road. At Overdrive Heavy Duty, not only can we perform all of the required maintenance on your truck, but we’ll help you schedule all of your future maintenance trips so everything that needs to be checked gets checked on time and your wallet doesn’t take any unexpected hits.
Suspensions
A properly maintained suspension is an important part of caring for your truck. A damaged suspension can cause a truck to fail its CVIP inspection. Suspension problems can also cause the ride to be rough, the truck to handle poorly, or the tractor to sway. None of these are conditions that you want to be dealing with while driving all day in the truck. Regular suspension checks can avoid all of them.
Alignments
Improper alignment can make it difficult to steer the truck, or cause wheels or other parts of the truck to wear unevenly. This can result in expensive repairs down the road. If your truck is experiencing any of the symptoms below, you should schedule an appointment to have the alignment checked:
- Wearing tires
- Truck pulls to one side
- Steering wheel is crooked
- Dog tracking
- Tire vibrations
Brakes and Wheels
The importance of properly functioning brakes and wheels cannot be overstated. Brakes that do not stop the truck, or wheels that blow out on the highway could result in severe damage to life or property. We can keep your factory brakes in top shape or give them an upgrade with Brembo or SSBC brakes.
Dyno
Our dynamometer can measure your truck’s horsepower so you know exactly how powerful it is. But a dyno test can do so much more than that. The results of a dyno test allow us to maximize the efficiency of your engine. This means you’ll see improvements in both power and fuel economy. Regular dyno tests will allow you to track your truck’s performance over time, alerting you early to any signs of degraded performance. Our shop utilizes a Taylor Tri-Drive water brake dyno.
CVIP Inspections
Keeping your truck on the road isn’t just a matter of repairs and maintenance. The government wants to know that your truck is safe to operate and that it will not be a danger to yourself or others. This is why CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) inspections are required annually for most heavy-duty commercial trucks, and semi-annually for most buses. We are authorized by the Government of Alberta to perform those inspections on your vehicle. If any problems are found that require repair, we can complete them in a timely manner as well.
