Betcha didn’t know these famous people drove truck!

Charles Bronson

Charles Bronson in Mr Majestyk

It’s not hard to picture one of Hollywood’s most manly actors, Charles Bronson, behind the wheel of a big rig. After his service during WW2 Bronson drove a freight truck while bouncing from job to job before joining a theatre company. That of course lead to what he’s more famous for, staring in Westerns like the Dirty Dozen and Once Upon a Time in the West.

Chevy Chase

Chevy Chase not only went to med school, but he also drove an 18-wheeler before becoming a National Lampoon icon.

Jason Aldean

Aldean drove a Pepsi truck across the states at age 17, before eventually perusing his dreams of a successful career in the music industry. Just this past October, Aldean celebrated truck drivers with a surprise show in Nashville.

James Cameron

James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger on the set of Terminator

This famous director dropped out of university to become a lorry driver, but continued to write scripts on the side. Using the cash he made as a driver, he bought a camera and (with two friends) created a budget 10-minute science fiction movie. Getting noticed landed him the role of director in a classic, Terminator.

Richard Pryor

Another of Hollywood’s funny men, Richard Pryor  had a job as a truck driver, moving loads across the US and Europe. We wonder if he practiced his stand-up routine over the CB radio?

Elvis Presley

Elvis and Lizbeth Scott, Loving You

The king of rock was famously told in an audition: “Stick to truck driving, you’ll never make it as a singer.” Oh man, that record producer definitely dropped a load that day!

We hope you enjoyed this truckstop entertainment. Safe travels.
